A MINUTE’S silence was held before the opening day men’s pennant games in memory of Dutch-born Leo van Heeswijk, who died earlier today (October 28).Leo and his wife Mimi came to Australia after a long and successful career in South Africa.Always ready to help team mates, Leo was exceptionally skilled with his hands and spent much of his time in his workshop.After having a season off, Leo came back to bowls with enthusiasm and was still playing in September before his short illness.
